Not 1 Republican that ran for re-election in the House lost their bid. The Republicans expanded their numbers & left Pelosi with the smallest majority in over 100 years. History has shown the midterms are usually disastrous for the party of the sitting President. Look for McCarthy to be the Speaker in 2023. Just a reminder - in 2010, Obama resulted in the Republicans winning a record 63 House seats & 7 Senate seats. History has a tendency to repeat. π
And letβs not forget about the census, which will be released this year. Blue states like NY, NJ, Illinois & California are expected to lose a seat or 2 each, with Florida & Texas adding a seat or 2. Districts will be redrawn, so with the GOP flipping 3 state houses, maintaining the majority in state houses & state legislatures, & having the majority of governorships, expect some favorable gerrymandering to occur to assist in the upcoming midterms. π
